In 2018, Tyler Morris purchased the company with the plan of continuing the strong, community-minded construction business built over the past four decades. Tyler graduated from SDSU with a degree in Construction Management. He started working at Beck & Hofer Construction as a Jobsite Superintendent and from there moved into Estimating & Project Management. Today, Tyler is President of the company and oversees all day-to-day operations.
Beck & Hofer Construction was launched in 1980 by Dick Beck and Chet Hofer. Dick and Chet built strong relationships with their clients for over 30 years. Chet retired in 2010 and Dick retired in 2018. Dick’s son, John, continues working as a Senior Estimator/Project Manager for the company.
Beck & Hofer Construction is dedicated to providing uncompromised service to clients, and professional growth and fulfillment for all employees. Just like the Beck & Hofer name, every building withstands the test of time and the intense South Dakota weather!
We’re a little different. Our mission focuses on both our customers and our employees because we know we couldn’t be successful if we didn’t pay attention to them both. Our mission is:

Self-performance means that we do a good share of the construction work ourselves. Beck & Hofer Construction has experienced concrete, steel and carpentry foremen and crews who will work on your project. We will secure qualified subcontractors who meet our quality and safety standards for much of the mechanical work, like electrical, plumbing, and heating. A self-performing contractor has greater control – and flexibility – over the schedule of when your work will get done and can usually apply resources much more quickly. If you want both control and flexibility, look to Beck & Hofer.
A Commitment To Safety
Customers should demand and hire contractors that actively and successfully control their risks through comprehensive safety programs. The pressure to cut corners, reduce quality or rush to get the project completed is significantly reduced through compliance to a good safety program. With a dedicated Field Safety Manager, Beck & Hofer Construction plans safety into each project as an integral part of the operation rather than something that is used when necessary. We at Beck & Hofer are extremely proud of our record of over two years with no loss work time incidents. As a member of a captive insurance group, we reap the savings of a safe workplace and pass the benefits on to you.
